The Uganda Gorilla Trekking Odyssey is an immersive rainforest adventure combining the rare experience of Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, chimpanzee encounters in Kibale Forest and an authentic introduction to the heritage of the Batwa people. Guided by experienced trackers and local experts, the journey takes you deep into Uganda’s ancient forests where every trek becomes a search for movement, calls, footprints and the extraordinary wildlife hidden within the vegetation.
Beyond the gorillas and chimpanzees, this adventure reveals Uganda through forest walks, birdlife, primates, local communities, Batwa traditions and intimate rainforest experiences, creating a safari that is as much about discovery and connection as it is about wildlife.
Day 1
Entebbe | Welcome to Uganda – Arrive in Entebbe and settle into your accommodation, with time to relax after your international journey and experience the welcoming atmosphere of Uganda. Depending on arrival time, enjoy a relaxed city or lakeside experience before your adventure begins.

Day 2
Entebbe → Kibale Forest | Into Chimpanzee Country – Travel towards Kibale Forest, passing through changing Ugandan landscapes, rural communities and lush countryside before reaching the primate capital of Uganda. Settle into the forest surroundings and prepare for tomorrow’s chimpanzee tracking experience, with optional nature or community experiences depending on arrival time.
Kibale Forest | Chimpanzee Tracking & Rainforest Discovery – Enter Kibale Forest with expert trackers and search the canopy and forest floor for Chimpanzees, with opportunities to encounter Red Colobus, L’Hoest’s Monkeys, Grey-cheeked Mangabeys and other primates. Continue exploring the forest through its calls, tracks and dense vegetation before relaxing amid the sounds of the rainforest.
Kibale → Bwindi Impenetrable Forest | Into Gorilla Country – Journey towards southwestern Uganda through spectacular highland scenery, terraced landscapes and rural communities as the journey approaches Bwindi’s ancient rainforest. Arrive near the gorilla trekking sector, settle into your lodge and receive a briefing on the following day’s trek with your expert guides and trackers.
Bwindi | Gorilla Trekking – The Ultimate Encounter – Begin early with your expert gorilla trackers and rangers, entering the dense Bwindi forest in search of a habituated Gorilla Family, following footprints, broken vegetation and distant calls until the gorillas are located. Spend your permitted time observing these remarkable primates in their natural habitat before trekking back through the rainforest, with the journey itself offering encounters with birds, butterflies, plants and other forest life. Gorilla Trekking Permit: USD 700 per person. The permit is required for the gorilla trekking experience and allows visitors aged 15 years and above to visit a habituated Gorilla Family and spend up to one hour observing them in their natural habitat. Trekking can take approximately 30 minutes to 7 hours depending on the location of the gorillas, so permit availability should be confirmed before booking.
Bwindi | Batwa Cultural Immersion & Forest Heritage – Step beyond wildlife viewing with an immersive Batwa cultural experience, learning about the traditions, forest heritage, survival knowledge, music, storytelling and relationship with the ancient forest from members of the Batwa community. Complete the experience with a guided forest or community walk, creating a deeper understanding of the people and landscapes surrounding Bwindi.
Bwindi → Entebbe | Uganda’s Scenic Journey Home – Travel back towards Entebbe, enjoying Uganda’s changing landscapes and rural scenery along the way, with opportunities to stop for local experiences and photographs. Arrive in Entebbe for a relaxed final evening before your onward journey.
