This 06 days tour takes you to Ruaha National Park which lies 130 kilometers west of Iringa town. Its name derived from the Great Ruaha River, which flows through it creating spectacular gorges and scenery. Hippos, crocodiles, turtles and fish inhabit the river. The park is also known for its sable and roan antelopes, and its rich bird life. With herds of more than 10,000 elephants, vast concentrations of buffalo, gazelle, and over 400 bird species, Ruaha's limitless wilderness, together with the surrounding game reserves of Rungwa and Kisigo stretches over 40,000 square kilometres.

You will also tour Selous Game Reserve which is Africa's largest protected wildlife Reserve and covers more than 5% of Tanzania's total area. It's rivers, hills, and plains are home to roaming elephant populations, the area's famous wild dogs, and some of the last black rhino left in the region. Named after the famous hunter and early conservationist, Frederick Courtney Selous, this great game reserve covers an area of over 21,000 square miles (54,000 square km) - making it larger than Switzerland and four times the size of the Serengeti.

Day 1: Arrive Dar Es Salaam

You will be met at Dar Es Salaam Airport and transferred to your light aircraft flight to the remote Selous Game Reserve, the largest wildlife reserve in Africa.

Check into your safari lodge in this magnificent UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its amazing diversity of wildlife and undisturbed nature, before enjoying a late afternoon game drive.

Day 2: Selous Game Reserve

Today enjoy early morning and late afternoon game viewing in the vast and little visited Selous Game Reserve.

Named after the famous hunter and early conservationist, Frederick Courtney Selous, this great game reserve covers an area of over 21,000 square miles (54,000 square km) - making it larger than Switzerland and four times the size of the Serengeti.

As a result, many game species can be found here in greater numbers than in any other game park in Africa - including over 70% of Tanzania's elephants. Hippo, buffalo and crocodiles are abundant and lion, hyena, wild dog and rhino can also be seen. Also gnu, hartebeest, kudu, sable, eland, reedbuck, bushbuck, waterbuck, warthog, zebra, giraffe, wildebeest, leopard and cheetah. There are over 350 different bird species too, including the bataleur eagle, and walking safaris are permitted.

Day 3: Selous Game Reserve - Ruaha Game Reserve

Enjoy an early morning game drive in Selous before your transfer to your light aircraft flight to remote Ruaha Game Reserve, the second largest wildlife reserve in Tanzania.

Check into your safari lodge in this magnificent wildlife wilderness and enjoy a late afternoon game drive in this pristine reserve.

Days 4 - 5: Ruaha Game Reserve

Today is devoted to game viewing in the previously inaccessible Ruaha Game Reserve, the second largest wildlife reserve in Tanzania.

Ruaha is a permanent hunting ground for lions, jackals, hyenas, cheetah and rare wild dogs which prey on zebras and antelope, with both the stunning roan and sable antelope found here as well as greater and lesser kudu. There are also thousands of elephants and buffalo and vast herds of gazelle, in beautful surroundings.

With over 450 bird species, including Eurasian migrating birds which flock to Ruaha twice a year (March/April and October/November), outstanding bird watching is also guaranteed.

Day 6: Dar Es Salaam - Departure

After breakfast we have last game drive on the way to the airstrip. We fly back to Dar Es Salaam to connect for your flight back home. (B)
