The town is on the shores of <a href=\"https:\/\/silverbirdsafari-africa.com\/display.php?package_s=67\">Lake Naivasha<\/a> which is the highest elevation of the Kenyan Rift Valley at 1886m in a complex geological combination of\u00a0volcanic rocks\u00a0and\u00a0sedimentary deposits\u00a0from a larger\u00a0Pleistocene\u00a0Era lake. The lake is home to a variety of types of wildlife including over 400 different\u00a0species\u00a0of\u00a0bird\u00a0and a sizable population of\u00a0hippos. The fish community in the lake has been highly variable over time, influenced by changes in climate, fishing effort and the introduction of invasive species.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5079\" src=\"https:\/\/www.silverbirdsafari-africa.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Naivasha_lake.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"298\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With its endless activities to choose from it is an ideal destination for the\u00a0 weekend\u00a0 from climbing Mt Longonot to exploring hell`s gate the original setup for the Lion King,\u00a0 to its\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/silverbirdsafari-africa.com\/display.php?package=61\">wildlife reserves<\/a> located in the Lake Naivasha National Park.<\/p>\n<p>The lake and its surroundings are rich in natural bounty, and the fertile soils and water supply have made this one of Kenya\u2019s prime agricultural regions. Much of the lake is surrounded by forests of the yellow barked Acacia Xanthophlea, known as the yellow fever tree.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5080\" src=\"https:\/\/www.silverbirdsafari-africa.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/kenya-3267-outspan-waterbuck.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>These forests abound with bird life, and Naivasha is known as a world class birding destination. The waters of the lake draw a great range of game to these shores.
