Asian Destinations plagued by deadly heat wave

The unrelenting heat has scarred most of the north Asian countries recently. The heat wave that has broken all the past records caused sickness and even death across countries like China and Japan. This has set apprehensions on the conditions of agriculture and water. However the causes behind these bizarre climatic conditions as pointed out by experts are due to settling of high pressure system and prevention of cloud formation. The case is worsened by the growing urbanization and global warming of the planet itself.

The worse suffers are countries like Japan and China. The glaring heat and the hot weather caused death of four people in Japan. As official records say the temperature has leapt up to 40 degree Celsius in Tokyo and Kofu. The mercury has risen even higher in Shimanto city lying south west of Kochi prefecture of Japan to 41 degree Celsius. This is the highest recorded temperature till now.

The normal life is affected and most of the inhabitants in Shimanto are cooling off in the beaches and rivers. The effects of the scathing heat has taken toll on business as well as most of the business closes down for the week.

Same conditions prevail China. It has seen the worst heat wave ever in last 140 years. More than 40 cities experienced a temperature around 40 degree Celsius with some of them even with higher mercury rising to 40.6 in cities like Shanghai. The sweltering heat has taken 10 lives in Shanghai as reported by the officials.

The highest temperature so recorded by Korean officials is 39.2 degrees. The casualties and effects were on the power. There was a shortage of power as officials reported. The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said, “This is a very critical situation where, in case just one power generator gives way, we may have to resort to rolling blackouts…”

India too is not spared from the shocks of heat wave. The death toll in Andhra Pradesh due to heat rose to 524 last may. The highest maximum temperature so recorded was 47 degree Celsius.
